Ms. Watkins has served as a trustee on the board of Hollins University and on the Vestry of Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea. She is a graduate of Kent School in Kent, CT, and received a BA from Hollins University. She received a master’s degree in Economics from New York University. Ms. Watkins is married to Reuben B. Johnson, and they have three grown children.

She holds an MBA from George Washington University and dual bachelor's degrees in finance and economics from the University of Maryland.
