Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation. As part of The Victorian Government’s ‘Best Start, Best Life’ reform, from 2025, kindergarten will gradually transition to Pre-Prep with programs across Victoria increasing from 15 to 30 hours each week.
